Your Access to and Control Over Information
You can do the following at any time by contacting me by the phone number given on the website. I prefer phone contacts about your private information to protect your privacy but email is acceptable.
- Ask what kind of data I have about you.
- Ask questions about my use of your data.
I take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever I collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to me in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the Web page. Your information is never stored on our servers. When we receive your email, it is printed out and stored in our secure paper filing cabinets. The electronic copy of the email is then deleted.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. If you are using insurance to pay for therapy, electronic billing clearinghouses for insurance companies are granted access to minimal personally identifiable information in order to transmit the claim. They meet the appropriate requirements for security. The computers/servers and file cabinets in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
